Joy & Aerick Burton are the founders, owners, & instructors of Move with Joy, LLC. After utilizing several outdoor and indoor locations, we moved into our permanent home for Move with Joy Studio (located inside the Creamery Apartment building at 1103 Portage St. in Kalamazoo, MI) in January of 2022.

Joy Morris-Burton is a Dance, Yoga, and Pilates instructor, choreographer, & freelance dancer. Joy graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Dance Performance in 2012. While in Ann Arbor, Joy performed with the modern dance company, People Dancing, directed by Christina Sears. Joy is trained in classical and contemporary ballet, jazz, acro and lyrical. They have studied with Complexions Contemporary Ballet and has performed in classical ballets such as Swan Lake and Midsummer Night's Dream. They have been teaching yoga, Pilates, and dance throughout east and west Michigan since 2002. Joy has been passionate about dance and movement her entire life and hasn't stopped dancing since she was 1 year old, and believes dance and movement is for everyone of all ages and skill levels!

Aerick Burton is a breakdancer and one of the founders of the local breakdance crew, "Kalamacrew." He graduated from Knox College with a Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies and taught with KPS for a few years before moving to Atlanta to study photography and graphic design. Aerick has since created websites, logos, clothing, and decals for himself and multiple other individuals and organizations. He also creates physical and digital artworks and has showcased his art in multiple galleries around Michigan. His origami art was chosen to be apart of ArtPrize 2018 as well as ArtPrize 2021. Aerick loves to create all kinds of art and is excited to share that passion with the community.

Joy & Aerick live in Kalamazoo, MI with their two beautiful daughters, Lololi and Xola, who also love to dance & create art.
